The HHANE receives numerous requests to assist the families and horsemen who have passed away or due to a serious medical issue have experienced financial distress. While the Board recognizes the need to assist all horse men and women, due to the limited financial resources, we need to focus on the needs of HHANE members that are trainers, drivers, and grooms.
In that regard, the HHANE will donate up to $100 for any deceased HHANE member or their direct relative for flowers or a separate request for donations. We will also contribute up to $1,000 to any HHANE member that is experiencing financial distress due to a medical or personal issue as determined by the H&W committee.
The HHANE will also assist financial requests via email blasts to our members or other reasonable means to non-members to assist all horse men and women in the harness racing industry, emphasizing those individuals that are experiencing financial distress due to medical issues, but direct contributions from the HHANE will only be made in limited circumstances.
All Board members or a separate committee of the Board will vote on any contributions made by the HHANE. Any Board members that have any direct relationship with the individual requesting such donation should recuse from voting, and such recusal will be noted in the Minutes.
